Kindergarten Contemplations

Wasn’t the ‘Mother’s Spa Day’ just lovely? The children were delighted to make this day special for all of you! I hope to have the photos as well as the video of the children singing their special Mother’s Day song to share with you so you have some photos as a keepsake of this special event.

Looking back at the past two weeks, we have been reading a lot about Kindergarten and heading off to elementary school. Many of the children in Room 4 have a lot of questions about what it will be like, who will be there, and what will they do there? Reading books about a wide range of school experiences from both a child, teacher, and parent perspective has helped the children answer some of their questions, but our dialogue continues.

Here is a short list of the books we have read:

• Little Cliff’s First Day of School by Clifton Taulbert
• Countdown to Kindergarten by Alison McGhee
• Kindergarten Kids by Ellen Senisi
• Welcome to Kindergarten by Anne Rockwell
• First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg

We plan to add more books to the list during our last month of school to continue to explore this meaningful topic in all of our lives.
