Fun-In-The Sun  Camp Sholom
Newsletter!
  Week #8

Welcome home to Camp Sholom!

This week at Camp Sholom!
August 10th-August 14th

Monday - It's Maccabia Day at Camp Sholom!  Campers will divided into 4 groups for a day filled with competition, spirit and tons of fun!  Parents will recieve a separate email letting you know which color shirt to send with your child (in a sealed brown paper bag)...shhh it's a secret!

Tuesday - Beach day at Corona Del Mar.  Please send extra snacks for your campers. Campers MUST wear their Camp Sholom shirts in the water.  You may wish to send a second Camp Sholom shirt so your camper has a dry shirt to wear while not in the water. We will not be visiting the snack bar this year so please do not send money with your campers.

Wednesday - Swimming at William Wollett in Irvine.

Thursday - Camp Sholom is going to Knott's Berry Farm!  Please bring $7.25 (exact change) for your child's lunch voucher in the morning and give it to a counselor.  We are not allowed to bring outside food into the park.  Also, you may send your child with additional money for extra snacks or games.

Friday -  Today is the last day of Camp Sholom 2009!  After an activity-filled morning, the annual Camp Sholom Carnival will begin at 1:00 p.m.  In addition to carnival games, prizes, and treats, we will celebrate Shabbat together and end the day with the Camp slideshow.  Campers enrolled for Week #8 do not need to bring a lunch today. Lunch will be provided for them. Any child who attended Camp Sholom this summer is invited to the Carnival at 1:00 p.m.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS!

We must receive the signed parent manual before campers may start camp.

Please remember to review the Camp Sholom Parent/Camper Manual with your camper prior to starting camp this summer.  Once you have reviewed Camp Sholom's procedures and policies, please sign the form on the back to acknowledge that you have read and understand the contents in the manual.  We must receive this form before your child begins camp.  Either mail the form to the camp office or bring it with you on your first day of camp.

All campers must be signed in and out each day with thier counselors.
Lunches
Please pack your camper's lunch in a ziploc or brown paper bag (NO LUNCH BOXES OR TUPPERWARE).  They will go into coolers and we need to make sure we have enough room for everyone's lunches.
Sunscreen
Please make sure to put lots of sunscreen on your camper BEFORE bringing him/her to camp in the morning.  Also, make sure to pack extra sunscreen so we can reapply during the day.
Bottled Water
Please remember to send your camper with extra water for beach days.  It's hot out there and we want to make sure everyone is drinking enough liquids.

Mitzvah Corner

As Jews we are commanded to engage in G'milut Chasadim, acts of loving-kindness.  Each week we will highlight a different mitzvah opportunity in which your family may choose to participate.
