The Brotherhood (Men's Club) at Temple Beth Sholom offers a variety of activities. There are opportunities for social and educational events, as well as Temple and community service. We are proud of the accomplishments of this group of remarkable gentlemen who work hard to support the youth programs of the Temple. All men at TBS are welcome to participate in this wonderful organization.

Shoot the Rapids with TBS!
TBS Brotherhood invites everyone to join us for a great summer weekend getaway adventure… Whitewater Rafting!
Rafting is an exciting way to experience nature, unwind and relax, and enjoy some quality time with your family, friends, co-workers, etc.
Who can raft? Families with kids, couples, singles, youth/teens, even active seniors! Everyone is welcome… and no prior rafting experience is required, as we’ll be going with a professional outfitter that provides seasoned river guides, all rafting and safety equipment, a spacious riverside campground (with restrooms & showers), and even five delicious meals! It’s all included!
Here’s the scoop…
Where: We’re headed up to the American River, just outside of Sacramento in the midst of California’s Historic Gold Rush country.
When: Friday, July 31st through Sunday, August 2nd.
Check out the trip flyer with complete details.

Brotherhood Briefing By Glenn Silverman, Brotherhood Secretary
Eyeballs feeling a little bouncy tracking those stock charts? The Dow meltdown gotcha feeling less then low? Maybe you're one of those who didn't like the election outcome? Hey, we don't play favorites at TBS Brotherhood events. Even subprime junkies are welcome.
Our Temple, like a lot of Reform synagogues, has its share of Realtors, mortgage brokers and stock traders, and each has a story to tell. One of the great things about involvement in organizations such as the Brotherhood is that we learn from each other. Call it therapy, but we understand that we are not alone. And what's a better self-healer than helping others.
There are a lot of needs at TBS and the Brotherhood tries to help out whenever asked, and even when we're not. Nobody says we can't have fun, either, and we try to make sure we have plenty of that.
We try to publicize our events well in advance with fliers and Temple announcements. If you're not on our email list, let us know. One of the things we're real excited about is the start of this season's Brotherhood-sponsored speakers bureau. Already on tap to address us is newly-appointed Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Sandra Hutchens. Other big-name draws are being scheduled and we're looking for more. Suggestions for speakers on topical subjects of interest to men, Jewish life, or something we haven't though of, are welcome.
We're doing something a little different this year. We've changed our monthly meeting schedule - a bit out of necessity - to Sunday mornings over breakfast at a nearby restaurant. It's a wonder we didn't start this earlier. When you think about it, it helps to keep the meetings short. Nobody wants to spend all morning sitting in a restaurant. It gets us up early that day so we have a feeling of accomplishment, and we kill two birds with one stone – eating and meeting.
Speaking of eating, don't forget TBS Brotherhood's signature event – the annual Pancake Breakfast and fundraiser – held each year on December 25. I have a feeling that's a holiday for some of you, so, please show up at TBS, bring the entire family, and enjoy some of the best pancakes, eggs, juice and other breakfast goodies around. The Original Pancake House may say they are the “original”, but don't bet on it. We can stake a claim to something novel, if not pure zaniness in putting it all together. Volunteers to help mix, garnish and cook the hot cakes and eggs are always needed. Look for event details in Temple bulletins, this publication, and elsewhere during the days leading up to the big day.
And let's all hope for a great new year in 2009.
Glenn
